China on Sunday accused the United States of “double standards” after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to impose an additional 100% tariff on Chinese imports in retaliation for Beijing’s restrictions on rare earth exports.
The Ministry of Commerce said the measures were a direct response to U.S. sanctions targeting Chinese firms in the maritime, shipbuilding, and technology sectors.
The dispute adds to mounting tensions following Washington’s curbs on China’s access to advanced semiconductor technology.
