At least 30 people have died and more than 80,000 others have been evacuated in Beijing following severe flooding caused by torrential rains, Chinese authorities confirmed on Tuesday.
According to the official Xinhua News Agency, the latest round of intense thunderstorms led to 30 fatalities by midnight Monday. The Beijing Daily, a state-run newspaper, reported via its WeChat account that 80,332 residents had been evacuated from flood-affected areas across the capital.
The deadly floods come amid extreme weather conditions sweeping across parts of China, with forecasters warning of continued heavy rainfall and potential further disruptions. Emergency response teams remain on high alert as rescue and relief operations continue.
