China will host the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in the city of Tianjin from August 31 to September 1, with the confirmed participation of leaders from more than 20 countries and heads of 10 international organizations, according to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Speaking at a joint press conference with SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev on Friday, Wang stated that the summit will feature a series of high-level events aimed at deepening political, economic, and regional cooperation among SCO member and observer states.
Wang described the summit as a vital platform to enhance mutual understanding and strengthen coordination in addressing global security and economic challenges.
The SCO is one of Asia’s leading regional alliances, comprising key nations such as China, Russia, India, Pakistan, and several Central Asian countries. The organization focuses on counterterrorism, security collaboration, and boosting economic and developmental ties among its members.
