China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the European Union on Friday to relax export controls on advanced technology products destined for the Chinese market, emphasizing Beijing’s commitment to strengthening economic and trade ties with EU member states.
Spokesperson Gao Jia Kun made the remarks during a regular press briefing in response to questions about the outcomes of the China-EU leaders’ summit held in Beijing on Thursday.
Gao stated that China remains dedicated to importing more high-quality and marketable European products, underlining the importance of removing trade barriers that hinder bilateral cooperation, according to Reuters.
This appeal comes amid ongoing efforts to promote mutual economic openness, against a backdrop of increasing trade tensions between China and Western countries, particularly concerning technology sectors and export regulations.
