China strongly criticized comments made by Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who hinted at the possibility of his country getting involved in any conflict between Beijing and Washington regarding Taiwan.

During a visit to India, Marcos stated that the Philippines’ geographical proximity and the presence of a large community in Taiwan would compel it to intervene in the event of war, prompting Beijing to warn against “playing with fire.”
