China’s President Xi Jinping Arrives in Kazakhstan for Central Asia Summit

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Kazakhstan on Monday to attend the second China–Central Asia summit, according to official Chinese media reports.

Ahead of the summit, scheduled for Tuesday, President Xi is expected to hold bilateral meetings with several Central Asian leaders, the Kazakh presidency confirmed.

In a statement released earlier today, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the summit “will jointly outline a new roadmap for future cooperation,” signaling Beijing’s commitment to strengthening ties with the region.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will host the summit, which will also be attended by the presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. The gathering underscores deepening economic and diplomatic relations between China and Central Asia.

The summit takes place amid China’s broader push to expand its influence in the region through the Belt and Road Initiative, with energy, infrastructure, and security cooperation expected to top the agenda.
