China’s exports of rare earth magnets to the United States soared by more than 660% in June compared to May, signaling a strong rebound in the supply of critical materials used in electric vehicles and wind turbines following recent trade agreements.
According to data from China’s General Administration of Customs, shipments to the U.S. rose to 353 metric tons in June, up sharply from just 46 tons in May, Reuters reported on Monday.
The surge comes after both countries reached accords last month aimed at resolving issues related to the trade of rare earth materials. The discussions included a framework allowing U.S. tech firm Nvidia to resume sales of its H20 artificial intelligence chips to China.
