Colombia announced the deployment of its armed forces along the border with Venezuela in anticipation of a potential influx of refugees following U.S. airstrikes targeting Venezuela.

President Gustavo Petro said his government convened a National Security Council meeting and decided to reinforce military presence to respond to any humanitarian emergency.

He reaffirmed Colombia’s rejection of “any aggression that undermines the sovereignty of Venezuela and Latin America,” calling for peaceful conflict resolution and announcing plans to request an emergency session of the UN Security Council.
