Colombian President Vows to “Take Up Arms” After Trump Threats

Colombian President Gustavo Petro pledged on Monday to “take up arms again” in defense of his country, in response to threats issued by US President Donald Trump following the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

Petro accused Washington of expanding its military intervention in the Caribbean, extending into Venezuela.

Trump responded by accusing Petro of involvement in drug trafficking and imposing financial sanctions on him and members of his family, further escalating tensions between the two countries.
