The Tel Aviv District Court on Monday approved the cancellation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s scheduled interrogation in his corruption cases, which was set for Wednesday, after he claimed he could not attend due to “security reasons.”
According to Israeli media, the cancellation came after Netanyahu submitted a sealed envelope containing “classified material” to the prosecution during his appearance in court earlier today.
Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Netanyahu told the judges, “There is a security matter on Wednesday that I would like to present discreetly,” after which he handed over the envelope. Upon reviewing its contents, the court decided to cancel the interrogation session.
Today’s session was expected to conclude Netanyahu’s questioning in “Case 1000,” in which he and members of his family are accused of receiving valuable gifts from businessmen in exchange for favors and assistance in various sectors.
Israel’s public broadcaster also reported that cross-examination sessions in “Case 1000,” where Netanyahu faces charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust, have resumed at the Tel Aviv District Court.
