Authorities under the Taliban’s interim administration announced Wednesday that the death toll from a bus crash in Herat province, western Afghanistan, has risen to 79, including 19 children, after several injured passengers succumbed to their wounds.

The accident occurred in the Guzara district when the bus, carrying returnees from Iran, collided with a motorcycle and a fuel truck, sparking a massive fire.
