Syria’s Ministry of Health reported on Monday that the death toll from armed attacks carried out by remnants of the ousted regime during protests in the city of Latakia has risen to four killed and 108 injured.
The state-run SANA news agency quoted the provincial health directorate as saying that the attacks targeted security personnel and civilians while they were securing demonstrations along the Syrian coast and in central regions.
Several governorates, including Latakia, Tartous, Hama, and Homs, witnessed protests calling for “federalism and the right to self-determination,” in response to calls by religious and political groups.
