A Pakistani police official said on Monday that the death toll from a fire that broke out at a shopping mall in Karachi has risen to 11, a day after the blaze erupted in the city center, destroying large parts of the building, Reuters reported.
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab said on Sunday that more than 60 people remain missing, as firefighting and rescue teams continue search operations under difficult conditions.
Authorities said around 75 percent of the fire has been brought under control, but full containment could take an additional four to six hours.
According to the Associated Press, five bodies were recovered from the four-storey building and its basement, which housed around 1,200 shops.
