The death toll from the capsizing of a boat carrying migrants off the coast of Yemen has risen to 86, according to security sources on Tuesday.

The boat was carrying around 170 migrants, of whom only 42 were rescued, while search operations for the missing continue.

The International Organization for Migration stated that the incident occurred off the coast of the town of Shuqra in Abyan province, marking the latest tragedy in a series of irregular migration incidents by sea towards Gulf countries.

The body of the boat’s captain, a Yemeni national, was among 14 other bodies found near the city of Zinjibar.
