The death toll from flash floods that swept through northern Vietnam has risen to 10, with seven others injured, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced on Saturday.
The province of Dien Bien has been the hardest hit, while neighboring provinces such as Son La, Phu Tho, and Tuyen Quang also reported severe flooding following days of torrential rainfall.
Local authorities said helicopters have been deployed to access isolated areas cut off by floodwaters and landslides.
Vietnam is currently in the midst of its tropical storm season, which frequently brings intense rain, flooding, and landslides across the country’s mountainous northern regions. Emergency response teams remain on alert as adverse weather conditions continue.
