Decisive Elections in Bolivia May End 20 Years of Leftist Rule

Bolivians voted on Sunday for a new president and congressional representatives amid predictions of defeat for the ruling Movement for Socialism party, which has been in power for nearly two decades.

The elections take place amid a severe economic crisis and divisions within the leftist coalition.

Polls indicate right-wing candidates Jorge “Tuto” Quiroga and Samuel Doria Medina leading, with preliminary results expected Sunday evening.
