A drone attack targeting the main power station in El-Obeid, capital of North Kordofan State, caused a complete electricity blackout in the city, according to Sudan’s Electricity Company.

The attack coincided with intensified fighting in several areas, which has left more than 100 people dead over the past week in the Darfur region.

Authorities confirmed that the station’s machinery building caught fire, warning of a worsening humanitarian crisis due to attacks on vital infrastructure and ongoing clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces.
