Residents of Bosnia’s Serb entity, Republika Srpska, will head to the polls on Sunday to elect a new president to replace Milorad Dodik, who was removed by the judiciary following a major political crisis.
Around 1.2 million eligible voters may cast their ballots until 7 p.m., with preliminary results expected overnight.
Six candidates are running, but projections indicate a two-way race between former Interior Minister Siniša Karan, backed by Dodik, and engineering professor Branko Blanuša, supported by opposition parties.
The presidential term is set to last for one year only.
