Earthquake in Russia Moves Kamchatka Land Two Meters Southeast

The powerful earthquake that struck Kamchatka in far eastern Russia, measuring 8.8 on the Richter scale, caused the land to shift two meters to the southeast, according to the Russian Geophysical Research Center.

The most significant displacements were observed in the southern part of the peninsula, resembling the ground movements that followed the 2011 Tohoku earthquake in Japan, while the impact was less pronounced in Petropavlovsk.
