Omani voters will exercise their electoral and national rights tomorrow, Sunday, by electing their representatives in the Shura Council for the tenth term.
This election is considered a significant milestone as it has adopted electronic voting, enabling more than 750,000 eligible voters to participate in the electoral process. Last Sunday, over 13,000 voters living abroad had already cast their votes.
This year’s elections come in the context of issuing Royal Decree No. 54 of 2023, which pertains to the law governing the election of Shura Council members.
This decree consists of 8 chapters containing 63 articles, with one of the most prominent features being the introduction of electronic voting for the first time in the history of Shura Council elections within and outside the Sultanate of Oman.
