French President Emmanuel Macron has announced Paris’s intention to organize a “humanitarian conference” concerning Gaza on November 9th. Macron emphasized that France is calling for a humanitarian ceasefire, asserting that the fight against terrorism does not justify sacrificing civilians. Meanwhile, Israeli ground operations and bombardments in Gaza persist.
During a visit to the Brittany region, Macron highlighted that this humanitarian conference will be conducted within the framework of the Paris Peace Forum. He underscored that combating terrorism does not entail attacking civilian populations without discrimination and urged a renewed commitment to averting any escalation in the Middle East.
According to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the concept involves extending numerous invitations to Arab and Middle Eastern countries, excluding Israel, as well as to members of the European Union and the G20, which includes the G7 leading nations, with the United States at the forefront. Additionally, invitations will be sent to international and regional organizations, UN agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
The Paris Peace Forum is slated for November 10th and 11th, with parallel events on November 8th and 9th, convening representatives from countries, international organizations, companies, and NGOs to deliberate the theme of “Collaborative Building in a Competitive World.
