Turkey has taken a significant step on Saturday by announcing the recall of its ambassador to Israel. This decision was a result of the ongoing violent attacks on the Gaza Strip for several weeks, which have led to the deaths of thousands of people.
The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement to confirm the reason behind the recall. The statement reads, “Considering the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza and due to the Israeli side’s refusal to accept calls for a ceasefire, the continuation of attacks on civilians, and the consistent hindrance of humanitarian aid without interruption, it has been decided to recall our ambassador in Tel Aviv, Şakir Özkan Torunlar.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had announced the severance of communications with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
