The Palestinian Prisoners Affairs Organizations issued a statement today revealing a noticeable escalation in the Israeli authorities’ arrest campaigns in the West Bank.
According to the joint statement from the Prisoners Affairs, Freed Prisoners, and the Palestinian Prisoners Club, the number of Palestinians arrested from Tuesday evening until Wednesday dawn reached at least 78 individuals, including 17 female university students in Hebron.
The security campaigns were particularly concentrated in the Hebron governorate, while other areas, such as Bethlehem, Ramallah, Jenin, Tulkarm, Nablus, and Jerusalem, also experienced arrest operations.
The statement pointed out that the arrests were not limited to individuals only but were accompanied by instances of abuse, violent assaults, confiscation of mobile phones, and threats against both the detainees and their families.
In a related context, the statement emphasized that these operations resulted in widespread destruction and sabotage in the homes of citizens, alongside incidents of intimidation and threats, even reaching the point of direct gunfire threats.
Regarding the statistics, the total number of arrests in the West Bank since October 7th has reached 2650 individuals. These arrests encompassed people taken from their homes, military checkpoints, those who surrendered under increasing pressure, as well as those held as hostages.
