The Finnish Prime Minister, Petteri Orpo, announced today, Wednesday, that the country will close all border crossings with Russia, except for one in the northern region, due to the influx of a large number of migrants.
In this context, Helsinki accused Moscow of directing these migrants towards its borders.
Prime Minister Petteri Orpo stated in a press conference that the government decided today to close most of the border crossings, except for the Rayak-Yusibi crossing in the northern region, which will remain open.
In recent weeks, Finland has witnessed an increase in the number of undocumented arrivals, especially from the Middle East and Africa, particularly from Iraq, Somalia, and Yemen. Finland shares a border of 1340 kilometers with Russia.
