Tropical Storm Filipe made landfall in Mozambique today, bringing with it strong rain and wind gusts of up to 120 km/h.
The National Institute of Meteorology for Mozambique states that the storm, which made landfall close to Inhambane, is predicted to proceed southwest into Maputo, the country’s capital.
Authorities nationwide alert us to the possibility that 525,000 people could be impacted, as the tropical storm may impact the provinces of Sofala, Gaza, and Maputo.
The storm has resulted in floods, roof damage to homes, and power outages.
