Under intense rain, Brazilian rescue crews are still searching for casualties of the powerful storm that devastated the country’s southeast over the weekend.

The most devastated areas thus far are Rio de Janeiro and Vila Velha, where 25 people have perished thus far.

In addition, 17 persons in Abiaká lost their lives as a result of the storm, according to a Brazilian Civil Protection statement.

At least 15 people have died in Mimoso do Sul as a result of the floods, according to an official toll that is certain to grow. The situation there is similarly awful.
