Strong floods that struck the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul have left at least ten people dead and twenty more missing.
Governor Eduardo Leite encouraged locals to seek safety in designated areas and requested that the federal government assist.
“I urge residents of Rio Grande do Sul in the most affected areas to find safe places,” he posted on the “X” platform.
“The nonstop rain is making it difficult for us to rescue people and keep aircraft from taking off.”
