UN Official Warns of ‘Full-Blown Famine’ in Northern Gaza

A senior UN official stated on Friday that the situation in northern Gaza has escalated to a “full-blown famine” following over six months of conflict between Israel and Hamas, coupled with stringent Israeli restrictions on food aid deliveries to the Palestinian territory.

Cindy McCain, the American head of the UN World Food Program, has emerged as one of the most prominent international figures to announce that civilians trapped in the most isolated parts of Gaza have plunged into famine.

“It’s horrifying,” McCain remarked in an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” scheduled to air on Sunday. There is famine -a complete famine – in the north, and it’s spreading southward.”
