Students at Trinity College Dublin, expressing solidarity with Palestine amid Israel’s actions in Gaza, have established an encampment, prompting the university to implement restrictions on campus access on Saturday. Additionally, the renowned Book of Kells exhibition, a highlight of Ireland’s tourist attractions, was closed as a result.
This encampment was erected late Friday following the announcement by Trinity College’s student union of a substantial fine of €214,000 ($230,000) imposed by the university due to financial losses incurred from protests in recent months, which encompassed issues beyond the Gaza conflict.
