On Friday, Mikhail Mishustin was officially approved as Prime Minister by the Russian State Duma (lower house of parliament).
Vyacheslav Volodin, the Chairman of the State Duma, previously declared Vladimir Putin had nominated Mikhail Mishustin for the role of Prime Minister.
Volodin noted that the deputies will implement their new powers as described in the Russian Constitution revisions beginning in 2020.
Mikhail Mishustin, aged 58, has led the government since January 2020. He formerly led the Federal Tax Service before succeeding Dmitry Medvedev as Prime Minister.
Mishustin is regarded as one of the three longest-serving prime ministers in modern Russian history, alongside Medvedev and Viktor Chernomyrdin.
