British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced that early general elections will be held on 4 July

Speaking outside government headquarters, the British Prime Minister said he had submitted a request to King Charles III to dissolve Parliament

The request has been approved by the King.

The general election will be held on 4 July.
