Death toll from Papua New Guinea landslide climbs to 300

More than 300 people and more than 1,100 homes have been buried by a massive landslide that destroyed a remote village in the north of the country, local media in Papua New Guinea reported on Saturday.
Hundreds are feared dead in the landslide that occurred in the village of Kaukalam in Inga Province, about 600 kilometers northwest of the capital Port Moresby, on Friday morning.
The landslide prevented aid from reaching the area by road, making helicopters the only way to reach the area.
the United States and Australia have offered assistance to the PNG government.
