The military spokesman for the Egyptian Armed Forces announced Monday that an investigation is underway into the killing of an Egyptian soldier by Israeli fire in Rafah.
The spokesman said in a statement on social media that the Egyptian Armed Forces are conducting an investigation by the competent authorities regarding the shooting incident in the Rafah border strip, which led to the death of one of the elements in charge of security.
For its part, the Israeli army confirmed that it is investigating a shooting incident on the Egyptian-Israeli border and that it is in contact with the Egyptian side.
An Egyptian soldier was killed in an exchange of fire between Israeli and Egyptian soldiers at the Rafah crossing on Monday, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) confirmed.
