Pyongyang is preparing to put a new military spy satellite into orbit, Japan’s Kyodo news agency reported on Monday
The agency said the Japanese Coast Guard spotted evidence of preparations for a satellite launch in North Korea’s Thongchang-ri province, where the Sohae launch site is located.
North Korea has launched three satellites from this site, only the last of which was correctly placed in orbit last November.
According to Pyongyang, the satellite provides images of US and South Korean military sites.
