Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Tuesday officially announced the adoption of the decision to recognise an independent Palestinian state
In a brief press statement, Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez stressed that recognising the State of Palestine is essential for achieving peace between Palestinians and Israelis as well as being a matter of historical justice.
He added that the decision is consistent with UN resolutions and is not directed against any party.
Spain’s recognition of the State of Palestine will come into effect today, simultaneously in Ireland and Norway.
