Candidates open for Iran’s presidential election

Iran announced on Thursday the opening of nominations for those wishing to run in the presidential elections to be held on 28 June to succeed the late president, who died in a helicopter crash with seven others about 10 days ago.
The period of allowing candidates to submit their papers lasts for five days, and the registration period ends next Tuesday.
The presidential elections in Iran were announced after the death of President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian in a helicopter crash on 19 May.
