Iraq: UN mission to withdraw by the end of 2025

The UN Security Council decided on Friday to withdraw the United Nations Mission in Iraq (UNAMI), which has been in the country for more than 20 years, by the end of 2025.
Iraq had submitted a request to the Security Council in May 2023 to withdraw the UN mission.
The resolution, adopted unanimously, extends the mandate of the mission, which was established in 2003, for a final period of 19 months until 31 December 2025.
