Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly submitted his resignation to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi during a meeting with him on Monday.
According to a statement by the Egyptian presidency, Sisi assigned Mostafa Madbouly to form a new government of competent and experienced people.
The presidency statement emphasised that the current government will continue to conduct business and perform its duties until the new government is formed.
Mostafa Madbouly took over as prime minister in June 2018, and his government has undergone several reshuffles
