G7 leaders in a statement endorsed the proposal announced by US President Joe Biden for a ceasefire and prisoner release deal in the Gaza Strip, calling on Hamas to accept it.

In a statement issued yesterday evening, the G7 leaders ‘call on Hamas to accept the agreement and urge countries with influence with Hamas to help ensure that Hamas accepts the agreement.’
The G7 also emphasised that its leaders ‘reaffirm their support for a peace process leading to a two-state solution’.
US President Joe Biden announced three days ago that Israel had proposed a three-phase ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
