Sudanese activists reported today that heavy fighting and artillery shelling in the Omdurman area near the Sudanese capital Khartoum has left nearly 40 Sudanese civilians dead and dozens wounded
The shelling comes in the context of the escalation of the war in Sudan between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and amid an exchange of accusations of targeting civilians.
On Thursday, the village of Wad al-Noura in the central Sudanese state of Gezira witnessed a horrific massacre that resulted in the death of more than 100 people.
The Sudanese government has accused the RSF of committing the massacre.
