Tebboune Signs Decree for Algerian Presidential Elections on September 7

Algeria’s President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has officially issued a decree summoning the electoral body for the upcoming presidential elections slated for September, as per an announcement from the Algerian presidency yesterday saturday.
On March 21st, Tebboune unveiled plans for an early presidential election set for September 7th, following consultations with the Senate and the National Assembly, alongside other senior officials.
Tebboune assumed office in December 2019 after securing victory in the presidential polls, clinching 58% of the votes. While the Algerian constitution permits him to seek re-election for a second term, he has not yet made any public declaration regarding his candidacy for a second tenure.
