Far-right parties achieved a major victory in the European Parliament elections yesterday, Sunday 9 June 2024.
They came first in France, Italy and Austria, and second in Germany and the Netherlands.
The final results of the European Parliament elections showed that the centre-right bloc retained the lead with a quarter of the seats, the socialists came second, while the liberals and environmental parties lost a third of the seats.
Europeans went to the polls over four days to elect 720 new members of the European Parliament.
