IOC Announces Initial Group of 14 Russian Athletes Cleared for Neutral Participation in Paris Olympics

On Saturday, the International Olympic Committee announced the first 14 Russian athletes accepted to participate neutrally in the upcoming Olympic Games hosted in Paris this summer. The list includes:
Cycling: Tamara Dronova, Aliona Ivanchikova, Alexander Vlasov.
Trampoline: Angela Bladtseva.
Wrestling: Nachyn Mongush, Shamil Makhmudov, Arslan Bagayev, Abdullah Kurbanov, Alan Ostaev, Magomed Murtazaliev, Natalia Malysheva, Veronika Chumikova, Alina Kasabieva, Elizaveta Pletlyakova.
The IOC continues to finalize the list according to decisions by the acceptance committee. Initially, Russian athletes were excluded from competition following Russia’s military operation in Ukraine in February 2022. However, in December 2023, the IOC agreed to accept Russian and Belarusian athletes as neutral individuals for the Olympic Games.
