On Sunday, Saudi Arabia’s official spokesperson for meteorology, Hussein Al-Qahtani, announced the highest recorded temperature in the central area of the Haram, reaching 47 degrees Celsius in the shade at the holy sites.
Al-Qahtani also stated that the temperature in Mina reached 46 degrees Celsius, accompanied by wind speeds of 10 kilometers per hour and a humidity level of 21%.
Earlier reports from Saudi media indicated that more than 1.5 million pilgrims had arrived in Mecca and its surroundings from various parts of the world to perform the Hajj pilgrimage. Saudi authorities anticipate that the number of pilgrims this year will exceed two million.
