European Union countries agreed on Thursday to impose a new package of sanctions on Russia.
According to the Belgian presidency, EU ambassadors approved the 14 sanctions in response to Russia’s ongoing military intervention in Ukraine.
The new sanctions package aims to deny Russia access to critical technologies, minimise its energy revenues, and target Russia’s shadow banking network, the Belgian presidency said.
The EU has imposed a package of economic sanctions on Russia’s economy and financial institutions since the start of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine in February 2022.
