Rapid Support Forces claim control of strategic town in western Sudan

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have announced that they have taken control of the strategic city of Foula, the capital of West Kordofan state in western Sudan.

The RSF said in a press release that it has taken full control of the strategically important city of Foula and the capital of West Kordofan State.
The city is home to the largest oil field and the South Sudanese oil pipeline passes through it.

The RSF’s account on the (X) platform posted videos of some of its military commanders. posted videos of some of its military commanders from inside the headquarters of the local government secretariat of the city at the time of its fall.
There has been no comment from the Sudanese army and the government.

Since 2023, the Sudanese army and the RSF have been fighting a war that has left about 13,100 people dead, according to the United Nations.
Some 8.8 million people have fled their homes in the conflict.
