The Tunisian Ministry of Defence announced on Friday that a military helicopter crashed during a flight mission in Gafsa, southwest of the country.
The Ministry of Defence explained that the helicopter suffered an accident during a landing manoeuvre at the Gafsa air base.
The helicopter’s crew, consisting of two pilots, was evacuated to the regional hospital Hocine Bouziane, the ministry added.
Medical staff reported that one of them died and the other is in stable condition.
Tunisia has previously witnessed similar incidents of military helicopters crashing during training or reconnaissance missions.
Most recently, in June 2023, four military personnel were killed when their helicopter crashed into the sea off the coast of the northern governorate of Bizerte.
