Sudan: Violent clashes between army and RSF in Sennar state

Violent clashes erupted on Monday in the Jebel Mweya area in central Sudan’s Sennar state, which is a key link connecting a number of strategic cities in the country.
Eyewitnesses reported that the RSF attacked the area, about 296 kilometres south of Khartoum.
The RSF claimed to have taken control of the area, which was denied by Sudanese army sources, who confirmed that forces are still stationed in several parts of the city.
Both sides are seeking victory in this vital area, which includes huge agricultural and production projects.

Tensions have been high in Sennar State for more than four months, with reports of widespread arrests affecting a number of villages.
