Two conservative candidates withdraw from Iran’s presidential election

Two conservative candidates have withdrawn from tomorrow’s presidential election in Iran, leaving four candidates in the race.
The mayor of Tehran, Alireza Zakani, announced on the X platform this morning that he would not take part in the election.
Zakani also called on conservative candidates to ‘unite’ behind a single candidate to present a united front.
The Iranian Interior Ministry announced last night that
Amir Hossein Qazizadeh Hashemi has withdrawn from the presidential election.
Iranians go to the polls tomorrow to elect a new president after former president Ebrahim Raisi was killed in a helicopter crash near the border with Azerbaijan last month.
