Erdogan does not rule out meeting Assad to restore Turkish-Syrian ties

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday he did not rule out a meeting with his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad to help restore bilateral relations between the two countries.
Speaking to reporters after Friday prayers in Istanbul, Erdogan expressed Turkey’s willingness to improve relations with Syria.
Turkey broke off relations with Syria in 2011.
In April 2023, the intelligence chiefs of Iran, Russia, Syria and Turkey held talks as part of efforts to rebuild Turkish-Syrian relations after years of estrangement.
